Dash of the Derg 2024
On the road

On September 20th, the Irish electrical industry came together for the first-ever “Dash of the Derg”, a cycling event held around the breathtaking Lough Derg. Approximately 200 cyclists, representing various companies in the electrical sector, took part in this fantastic event, all in support of the Irish Electrical Benevolent Association (IEBA). With sunny skies and perfect conditions, the day was set for success from the start.

The rolling start saw teams proudly dressed in matching liveries, with participants from leading companies including EWL, CSGL, Designer Group, CEF, the title sponsors Ei Electronics, AP Haslam, JV Tierney, Lidacel, REW, Micheal Garry, Robus, Rexel Kellihers, Fisher Paykel, Glen Dimplex, Schneider Electric, NTR plc, Hager, and many more. Each team brought energy and camaraderie as they cycled the scenic route around Lough Derg, taking in the stunning views along the way.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the title sponsors of the event, Ei Electronics, for their outstanding support. Sean Meally and his team played a crucial role in ensuring the day’s success. A huge thank you also goes to all the other sponsors and supporters for their invaluable contributions of time and effort, which made the event a day to remember.

A special shoutout goes to the IECC organizing team: Stephen McManus (Lidacel), Mick Bissett (Hager), Diarmaid McStay (REW), Andrew Clifford (JV Tierney), and our very own Dan Fisher (Core Distribution and Deputy Chairman of the IEBA). Their tireless dedication brought the event to life and ensured everything ran smoothly.

Of course, there are countless others who deserve thanks for their help and support, and to all of you, we are truly grateful.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s Dash of the Derg. Until then, thank you once again for making this inaugural event such a great success! See you on the road in 2025!
